Michael Citron, MD has been practicing Medicine for over 30 years. He is residency trained and board certified in Emergency Medicine and has further training in Functional Medicine. Originally from Ohio, he moved to North Carolina about 22 years ago. Dr. Citron has completed fellowship training from A4M (The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine) and is currently finishing fellowship training from the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). Further, he has completed specialized training in Methylation (Dr. Lynch) as well as attended every SHEICON Methylation Conference (and is listed as a Physician who has "completed training in clinical methylation and nutrigenomics").

"Many years ago, it became apparent that there was more to treating illness then symptom reduction with the dispensing of pharmaceuticals. While emergency medical care is critically important, I saw a rather consistent pattern of chronic underlying issues leading to the emergency department visit in many cases. Typical examples include cigarette smoking, over-weight, hypertension, diabetes, and other chronic diseases.

I began to explore how we (as physicians) might do better at preventing the visit to the emergency department to begin with - how we might be able to identify and eliminate or minimize the root causes that eventually cause these underlying diseases that eventually lead to the need for medical care - often in the emergency department.

Jignasa Sachar, DO is a Family Practice physician and has extended her training to the field of Functional Medicine. She is Board Certified in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, and is a Certified Bredesen Protocol physician.

She completed her Family Practice training at Long Beach Medical Center in New York. She was a staff physician at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation for 5 years, where she received the "Best Practice Award" for Outstanding Patient Satisfaction.

Dr. Sachar subsequently completed a Fellowship in Functional Medicine - which is the main focus of her practice.

As a Functional Medicine physician, she is passionate about identifying the root cause of disease, rather then just focusing on the symptoms of the disease.

By focusing on the root cause, this results in the ability to restore optimal functioning of the body and its organs. This reduces by orders of magnitude the risk of recurrence and progression of the disease process.

Dr. Sachar has a particular interest in autoimmune thyroid disorders, and the Bredesen Protocol for Alzheimers, Dementia, and cognitive decline.

Dr. Sachar is a certified yoga teacher and incorporates integrative principles to restore health and well-being.
